Dear Aria,
Papa and Mama met 10 years ago today on Pangkor Laut Resort.

5 Years ago today, Papa, in sleepy sarong, on bended knees and with a ring in hand, told Mama "I want you to marry me". Mama said "yes".

Almost 6 years ago, Papa sent this song to Mama in one of the "ASongADay" emails.
We had not planned for you yet and we have since forgotten the song.
Papa found this song by accident again yesterday.... what a nice coincident and surprise we now have you, our precious Aria.

Elvis

One of the first big AD trips was last May when we went to the US.

A must stop for mum was Memphis - for Elvis.
Memphis meant much much more than Elvis to me - rockabilly, delta blues, Sun Records, Johnny Cash, Aretha Franklin, Martin Luther King, civil rights movement etc etc... but Elvis is still Elvis. Must go and must see Graceland.

Not wanting to do just another Memphis tourist visit, we found Tad, who owns a Pink Cadillac and runs American Dream Safari. (read all about his special tours)

So we wrote to Tad, made a booking, hooked up after we finished Graceland... and had an amazing Memphis alternative tour (we talking Elvis' first apartment, Cash's first home, Aretha's birth place, Sun Studios) in a Pink Cadillac.

Anyway, I thought it is fitting to have an entry about that trip and Elvis on this day.

Elvis - not just The King, but one of the original rockabilly greaseheads..... Rockin' In Peace for 35 years.

One of our favs... featured on AD Wedding playlist. (like the very danceable JLX mix version too but the wife is old school on this one)

My absolute favourite 3 minutes of Elvis.

on the 3rd day of July, 1971...

Jim Morrison joined the 27 Club.

The world lost a great poet, a reluctant rockstar, underrated blues musician (The Doors would have been such a great blues band through the years) and undiscovered film maker.

Love Street - attempted in parts on the ukulele at the AD Wedding by yours truly. Erhem.

The day we lost Jim, one interesting character was born - Julian Assange.
Controversial, brave, odd, possibly a little perverted... hmm... that damn theory of reincarnation =]

oh ya... stumbled upon this trailer. 27 Club movie.
I wanna see it!

Little Hurricane - Haunted Heart vid

Dynamic duo...
The new Jack and Megan sound wise...
Their new MTV below... hmm.. Bonnie + Clyde (of the 30's,  not the Jay-Z Beyonce crap), Mickey + Mallory comes to mind.

Tone + CC - Little Hurricane. Love them

more Jeff Buckley

15 years ago today, the Mississippi River swept away a voice that to me, is the best ever.

That voice played a pivotal role in what has become AD today. So it's fitting for my first post to be a tribute to that voice.
